Your winning Rage On

From the Rage Online newsdesk Tuesday, August 17th, 2004

Rage On produced yet another winning team, as last night we proved ourselves the brains of Oxford United, sweeping to a classic victory in the OxVox Quiz Night at the Priory & ?. Despite a strong, but ultimately futile, challenge from the reigning champions team, The Reigning Champions, featuring some reprobates from the Oxford United web site, among others, and another worthy but flawed challenge from the OxVox team (whose name we forget), the Rage On team (who began the evening as the Perennial Underachievers, but whose name morphed eventually to the Pedantic Underminers) won by one point. Next time we will obviously have to name ourselves the Reigning Champions. We fought the competition on behalf of all our readers (apart from those in rival teams, of course).

This seems an apposite moment to remind everyone that the deadline for copy for the first Rage On of the season is this Saturday, August 21st. The magazine will be on sale before the game against Shrewsbury on August 28th. Unfortunately production schedules mean that the promised free CD, by featuring Proud to be an Oxford Fan, by Yellow Army, has yet again had to be delayed. Circumstances allowing, we intend to produce it with Rage On 37, due in mid-October.

This evening United’s reserves went to Milton Keynes to play Franchise in a friendly. The game was goalless at half-time, but then the league’s pariah club took a two goal lead. Oxford fought back with goals from Tom Winters, direct from a free-kick, and Steve Basham, who neatly converted after being set-up by substitute Craid Davies. The game ended 2-2.
