Oxford United midfielder Adam Chapman has joined Newport County on a one-month loan. Chapman joins the Conference club after making just one substitute appearance since his return to the club in September following a prison sentence.

Chapman played the final minutes at the Globe Arena in December when United drew a stalemate at Morecambe in the league. The former Sheffield United youth captain had been training with fellow Non-League side Mansfield Town at the beginning of January, but has decided to sign an initial loan deal at the Newport Stadium.

Chapman joins Josh Payne in leaving the club on loan, as Payne extended his loan deal at Aldershot Town until the end of the season. Chapman, who was man of the match in Oxford
