York preview

United welcome York City to the Kassam stadium boosted by the surprising but welcome news that both Phil Bolland and Paul Moody's red cards, shown by referee Joe Ross against Scunthorpe, have been rescinded making them both eligible to play. With Scott Guyett and Wayne Hatswell both out with suspensions Bolland's presence is vital to shore up the defence, which will almost certainly include Jon Richardson and either Robert Quinn, Sam Ricketts or Simon King.

Mark Wright will hopefully revert to the three-man attack which failed so spectacularly against both Scunthorpe and Carlisle, although not for the want of trying. Also it is to be hoped that he will see sense and bring Manny Omoyinmi back into the starting line-up and leave Stuart Douglas on the bench. None of the long-term injury victims are back in the frame yet, so the only other likely change is the return of Chris Hackett to the bench.

Despite United's win at Hartlepool on Saturday we are not yet convinced of the error of our ways in refusing to predict a United victory. Certainly failure to beat York would have to be on a par with the recent disappointing home results, and with former United striker Lee Nogan playing for them, and even occasionally scoring, York have the capacity to cause problems for United. Rage Online therefore predicts a hard-fought 2-2 draw.

If the Fans are United

Wimbledon Independent Supporters Association (WISA) have organised a Fans' United Day on Sunday 16th December at their 'home' match v. Nottingham Forest. This match was specifically chosen because, with it being on a Sunday, most other teams will not be playing and there will therefore be a chance for more fans of other teams to attend.

The aim of the event is to highlight the value of supporters to footballclubs and the link between a football club and its local community and, more specifically, to protest against franchising in football, the Milton Keynes issue and to push for a return for Wimbledon FC to its rightful home in Merton.

Rage Online urges as many United supporters as possible to attend and show solidarity with our friends and colleagues from Wimbledon. We may not share their plight, but we have shared their pain on many occasions.

We also encourage United fans to visit the Oxford United official web site and vote for Sham 69's If The Kids Are United as the song to which the Yellows should take the pitch, rather than the ridiculous Banana Splits song or the anonymous U2 effort.
