United welcome Yeovil Town to the KasStad on Saturday for the first ever league meeting between the two sides. Yeovil lie just two places and two points behind United in sixth place and are looking to bounce back from their recent 3-1 defeat by Cheltenham. Oxford struggled to get a point at Boston on Saturday and Ian Atkins has one or two issues that he needs to address.
The major problem he faces is who should start up front alongside Steve Basham. Julian Alsop is out suspended for a further three games, and his replacement last week, Andy Scott, broke his leg fifteen minutes into the game and will be out for up to 20 weeks. Mark Rawle came on for Scott but failed to make a major impact, meanwhile Jefferson Louis came on later in the game and scored the goal that earned the Us an unlikely point. He also scored for the reserves last Monday and so must be considered favourite to start.
Skipper Andy Crosby could find himself on the bench again after another accomplished defensive performance last week, although Atkins will be concerned at how Graeme Jones was left unmarked to score Boston’s goal. The midfield is again likely to be the steady trio of Dean Whitehead, Paul Wanless and James Hunt. Deano has won four of the last five Rage Online Man of the Match polls, and is leading in the Boston poll, although we suspect that reports of his imminent transfer to Nottingham Forest are somewhat exagerated.
Yeovil are an unknown quantity, but have made a reasonably good start to their first league campaign. Without any past history between the clubs we are going to have to rely on the equally unreliable indicator of current form on which to base our prediction. Following our rare success of an accurate result for the Boston game we are sticking with the score-draw motif, this time going for 2-2. Just watch us get it wrong…
