Wayne Brown has agreed a new two-year deal at Oxford United. The goalkeeper, who made his 500th senior appearance this season, will combine playing with an education in coaching under the mentorship of Alan Hodgkinson MBE.
Following a spell in South Africa, the 35 year-old spent long-periods of the season on the bench, but showed his ability when filling in for the injured Ryan Clarke towards the end of the season. A knee injury prevented further appearances but successful surgery has ensured that the former Hereford man will be a part of the playing staff next season.
Manager Chris Wilder told the Official Website: I think the goalkeeping situation is in very good shape. Alan, with his vast experience, will continue to oversee everything. Ryan Clarke has done very well, Wayne has proved a more than able deputy and with young Max Crocombe hopefully developing more next season it means we are well covered in that area.
