The end of Smith was announced today, officially a resignation. However a statement from Firoz Kassam suggests that this is actually a Shottonesque piece of fiction, as Kassam said “It is with regret that I've had to take this step”. Make of that what you will. No replacement has yet been appointed, although Rage Online is confident that Kassam has learned the lessons of the past and will stick to his word to appoint an outsider. It is not certain yet who will be in temporary charge, and who will pick the team for the swindon game on Sunday, although this will be announced tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what, if any, effect this change will have on United's dismal results, and for how long any change will be sustained. Denis will be staying at United in an “advisory capacity”, a similar position to Ray Harford, perhaps?
