With just four days remaining of the January transfer window, United have signed their second striker in two days. Following the capture of Eastbourne Borough's Yemi Odubade yesterday, Oxford have just announced the arrival of Aldershot's prolific forward Tim Sills.
Sills started off as a trainee at Millwall, from where he joined Camberley. He then moved to Basingstoke. After two seasons Sills moved to Kingstonian, where he scored 33 goals in 66 appearances. In 2003 Sills was called up for the England National Game XI, and in May he was signed by the Shots.
At the Recreation Ground, Sills has scored 43 league goals in 89 starts, and has forged a reputation as a skillful striker with an eye for goal, and one who's brave too. Sills has signed for the Us for a “substantial”, but undisclosed, fee. He turned down a move to Bristol Rovers in 2004, and other clubs which were interested in signing him during this transfer window included Wycombe, Orient, Rushden, and swindon. Hah-hah. Sills' signing came too late for him to be included in the squad for tomorrow's game at Rushden.
