United on the road again

Oxford United will begin the new league campaign with an away trip to Bristol Rovers on Saturday 18th August.

The trip west will be followed by the visits of Southend United (Tuesday 21st August) and Plymouth Argyle (Saturday 25th August) to Grenoble Road.

The fixture computer has not been particularly kind to the club from a commercial perspective, with away fixtures on the first and last days of the season accompanied by the long trip to Exeter City on Boxing Day.

A New Year's Day fixture at home to Cheltenham Town should be well attended, however, as should the visit of Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday 6th April.

The season concludes with a trip to Accrington Stanley on Saturday 27th April.

Chris Wilder told the Official Website: “It's a fairly local one and I'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully we can make a positive start. It's a game against a team that'll be looking to go well, as are we, so it all makes for a really good game of football and a cracking atmosphere.

“When we went down there last season it was a tight game, in difficult conditions, with nothing between the two sides. Hopefully we'll yet again sell-out as we did for the majority of away games last season.

“Looking at the fixtures all the way through, we will be approaching all the games in a positive way like we always have done in my time here. I looked at last season's start and that was a tough one but we did well with that and we'll be looking to do the same again this year.”
