United get two new players

Or, rather, two current players have recovered from their injuries. Paul Powell and Rob Folland both successfully came through the reserves' 1-1 draw at Reading this afternoon to bring themselves into contention for the United squad at the same venue this Saturday. Powell played for seventy minutes and Folland (of Rage On sponsorship fame) featured over the full 90 minutes in front of a watching Joe Kinnear, who was present for the second half. United's goal was an equaliser by Manny Omoyinmi.

Toddling off

swindon boss Colin Todd today resigned from his post at the county ground in order to become the number 2 to Jim Smith at Derby. Smith, 60, retires at the end of this season and Todd is seen to be his natural successor, playing under him at both Brum and Oxford. Former U's thing Malcolm Crosby is in temporary charge of swindon (tee-hee) and many United fans are hoping that Denis Smith will soon be joining him, to ensure that they join us in Division 3 next season.
