United duo up for awards

Oxford United boss Chris Wilder and striker Tom Craddock have both been nominated for awards within League Two.

Us boss Wilder has been credited for his team’s solid performance in October with a chance to be named ‘nPower League 2 Manager of the Month’. Similarly, forward Craddock has been put forward for ‘Player of the Month’ after scoring five goals, including four in Oxford’s 5-0 thrashing of Accrington Stanley.

October provided United’s highest points return in the league so far, with ten points from a possible 18. A 3-1 victory at Wycombe Wanderers capped off a month that included wins against Accrington and AFC Wimbledon. The month also included a continued run in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy with victory over Cheltenham Town. Wilder’s men now face a tough tie at Plymouth Argyle in early December.

Competing with Wilder for the top managerial award are league leaders Gillingham’s Martin Allen and Cheltenham Town’s Mark Yates. Meanwhile Port Vale’s Ashley Vincent, who consequently scored for Vale in United’s 3-0 loss in October, and Fleetwood Town’s young prospect Junior Brown battle Craddock for the best player honour.

The winners will be announced this Friday 16th November, with the award decided by two Football League judging panels including former West Ham United manager Alan Curbishley.
