Tuesday’s footy

From the Rage Online newsdesk Tuesday, March 2nd, 2004

Huddersfield were the big winners in the Third Division this evening, beating Yeovil 3-1 at the McAlpine. With Torquay’s game at Mansfield postponed due to a frozen pitch this result lifted the Terriers, who visit Oxford on Saturday, into fourth position, just two points behind United. Yeovil remain seventh, two points above Lincoln but having played a game more.

Swansea City’s 1-0 win at Cambridge lifted them up to ninth place, still eight points short of the play-offs. Their fifth minute goal was scored by former Oxford triallist Izzy Iriekpen.

That win takes the Swans above Northampton on goal difference. The Cobblers recent good run came to a crashing halt at Kidderminster, who were 22nd. Their 2-1 win lifted them up to 18th and six points above the relegation zone. Bristol Rovers, who drew with Oxford on Saturday, gained another vital point in their battle against relegation, holding Leyton Orient to a 1-1 draw in East Landun.
