Trust 50

The launch of OxVox last night saw over one hundred supporters inside the BBL Leisure Centre as the new United supporters trust became the 50th such organisation. The celebratory event included speeches from Mike Ford, Supporters Direct representative Matt Holt, Associate Director Martin Matthews and County Councillor Ian Ord, who gave an impassioned plea on behalf of the threatened Oxford Learning United, surely one of the earliest challenges for OxVox.

The launch also saw several more people join OxVox to take the number of members to over 100. More information about the Trust, and a downloadable membership application form, can be found on their web site at www.oxvox.org.uk.

United take on Carlisle at Brunton Park tomorrow for the furthest possible league game the club can play. Richard Knight returns in goal following the end of Andy Woodman's successful loan spell. Ian Atkins would like to keep Woodman, but with two goalkeepers already on the books the money for wages isn't available. A move to Colchester for Knight is unlikely to happen because Colchester can't match Knight's wages and the former Derby player is unlikely to want to warm the Essexmen's bench. Thus, although he's available on a free, we are unlikely to be seeing Woodman at the KasStad next season (except playing for Colchester of course).

Also included in United's squad are Darren Patterson, playing his first game for almost a year following injury, and Martin Thomas who is making his first appearance under Atkins (should he be selected, that is). Andy Scott is still injured, so it's likely to be Paul Moody or Phil Gray partnering Jamie Brooks up front. Lee Maddison may play against the club that holds his contract, but then again he may not.

Carlisle are just three points behind United, although with three games in hand. Rage Online reckons that the home team's current form, combined with United's vertigo on the road, means a 1-0 win to the home team. Shame, eh?
