Transfer talk

Transfer talk

There are reports that United have been unable to agree personal terms with Kidderminster striker Drewe Broughton, despite the two clubs agreeing a £70,000 fee and the player now looks unlikely to join United at present. This could open the way for a bid for Luton's out-of-favour forward Steve Howard, who has been linked with a move to Oxford and Northampton recently. Paul Moody's move to United is actually a loan deal, to enable him to be eligible to have played yesterday. The move will be made permanent tomorrow with Moody registered in time to play at Kidderminster on Tuesday.

After the match yesterday Mark Wright claimed that he is in talks with a “big name player” who he is hopeful of signing on a free transfer. There have been no hints as to who this might be (Stan Collymore, anybody?), although Planet Football reports that Wright is considering a move for Northampton Town defender Richard Hope (hardly a big name, but a reportable rumour nonetheless).

Leyland DAF Vans Vans Trophy

United have been drawn away to Northampton Town in this season's LDV Vans Trophy first round. The game will take place on Tuesday October 16th at Sixfields.
