Colin Todd's first act as swindon boss was to appoint former United boss (for five losing games) Malcolm Crosby as his number two. This upset Denis Smith who claimed that he would have liked to have brought Crosby back to the Manor but because there's no money available here he wasn't able to. Wonder what Mickey Lewis made of those remarks? Crosby was with Smith at Roots Hall on Tuesday night, eyeing up the talent (in Southend?). Smith himself is apparently due to meet Firoz Kassam tomorrow to ascertain his own future and to try and sort out which players he can offer contracts to, especially important to sort out before Mark Watson flies off to Canada right after the season finishes to join up with their World Cup squad.
Apparently highlights of Mike Ford's testimonial game against a Manchester United 5th XI are going to be shown on MUTV, Manchester United's very own digital TV channel. This should thrill just about the two people in Oxfordshire who subscribe who are probably bored by now of repeats of past games and shots of Old Trafford dressing rooms or whatever dross they show. Apparently United are expecting the attendance to be greater than the highest league gate of the season (7,693 v. Reading) which is either a resounding endorsement of Fordy's time at the Manor or just goes to show how sad people really are.
