Oxford United are gearing up for their third match of the season this Saturday, as they take on newly promoted Eastbourne Borough at the United Stadium. United have lost their first two matches of the season, and with a tough away game against Wrexham coming up on Thursday night, it is vital that The Us get their first three points of the season. Manager Darren Patterson has called tomorrow's match a “must-win game”, heaping further pressure on his beleaguered side.
The Yellows look set to continue with Jake Cole in goal after an impressive debut against Weymouth, despite letting one goal in. Patterson has said that it is unlikely that Jamie Guy will feature and will probably stick with his side that lost 1-0 to Weymouth on Tuesday night, and try to build on some early partnerships; Levi Reid looked particularly impressive down the right, supported by Yemi Odubade up-front. Captain Adam Murray was ill during the Weymouth game, and Patto will be hoping that he has fully recovered, as United looked particularly weak in central midfield on Tuesday.
The Sports are enjoying their first season in the Conference, after winning last season's play-off final against Hampton & Richmond. They took the champions, Lewes, all the way in the Conference South and have started the new season promisingly; losing narrowly 1-0 to a very strong Rushden & Diamonds side before rolling over Stevenage Borough 3-1 to record their first win over a side at this level. Yemi used to play for Borough and their smaller neighbours Eastbourne Town, and was prolific for both. It was an eye-catching performance for Borough against the Us that earned his move to the United Stadium. Key man for The Sports is striker Allan Tait, part of a dangerous and exciting front line. Tait is an intelligent striker, and his movement could cause problems for the United defence.[@opponent]eastbourne borough[/@opponent][@connection]eastbourne borough[/@connection]
