The Barrow march

James Constable returns for Oxford United tomorrow and he will be hoping to continue his fantastic scoring record at The United Stadium. Constable would take his tally to eight home goals in a row if he were to net against Barrow. The Us owe one to Barrow after suffering a humiliating 3-0 loss on the opening day of the season. The Conference new boys were better than United, and with the match being shown live on Setanta, it was all the more galling. This will be the first match that United have played since their 2-1 victory over Lewes two weeks ago. If Oxford avoid defeat in this match, then that would extend their unbeaten run to eight league games; an impressive run of results, but one that needs to be maintained if Oxford are to sneak into the play-off places, however unlikely that might be. Since Oxford last played, teams around them have had mixed fortunes; Wrexham picked up three points against Lewes but Histon dropped points at Forest Green, and Torquay United suffered defeat at the hands of troubled Weymouth. United still sit in ninth place, five points off the play-offs, but having played several more games than most of the teams around and above them.

Constable returns to the fold after missing one game through suspension, and he is likely to be partnered by new loan signing from York City, Craig Farrell. Farrell has expressed his desire to partner the United hotshot up-front. James Clarke, who was sent-off in that disappointing 3-0 loss, is unlikely to feature, with Damian Batt likely to retain his place at right-back. New signing Simon Clist will be hoping to make his debut and could form an exciting looking midfield pairing with Adam Murray.

Just as United have never won at Holker Street, they've also yet to lose at home to Barrow, and Oxford's record Football League victory was their 7-0 win over Barrow in December 1964. After an impressive start to the season, Barrow have dropped off the pace recently, and now find themselves just two points above the relegation zone. This will also be their first match since the end of January, when they secured a 0-0 draw against relegation rivals Salisbury City. Carlos Logan will be suspended for the match, much to the relief of many Us fans after his impressive role in the 3-0 defeat. Veteran striker Paul Tait has recently joined The Bluebirds and is expected to make his debut. Key player for The Bluebirds is striker Jason Walker, the lively forward has scored eight of Barrow
