Team Zero

New striker Leon Mike is due to start tomorrow against Bristol City at the Manor alongside Manny Omoyinmi in place of Steve Anthrobus. Dean Whitehead is also being recalled to the side, in place of Matt Murphy. More intriguing is the prospect of a return to central defence of Mike Ford, who was registered as a player on Wednesday following an appearance in the reserves, and who has been training with the first team. This is due to injuries to left sided defenders Ian McGuckin and Jon Shepheard. This will only be a temporary measure as Fordy is still carrying the injury that forced him to retire, plus he's not getting any younger and was never that pacey anyway.

The Oxford Mail has revealed that the player Smith was looking at on Wednesday is Venezuelan international Giovanni Savarese, who scored in QPR reserves' 3-1 win over Barnet reserves. Smith said that the player looked useful and that there were a number of other managers and scouts present to watch him, but he had concerns that Savarese might not be up for playing “at somewhere like Rotherham in the middle of Winter”. Unlike the rest of the squad who are not up for playing anywhere at any time of year.

Paul Simpson scored two of Blackpool's four goals in their 4-1 win at Kidderminster tonight.
