This is due to injuries to left sided defenders Ian McGuckin and Jon Shepheard. This will only be a temporary measure as Fordy is still carrying the injury that forced him to retire, plus he's not getting any younger and was never that pacey anyway.

The Oxford Mail has revealed that the player Smith was looking at on Wednesday is Venezuelan international Giovanni Savarese, who scored in QPR reserves' 3-1 win over Barnet reserves. Smith said that the player looked useful and that there were a number of other managers and scouts present to watch him, but he had concerns that Savarese might not be up for playing “at somewhere like Rotherham in the middle of Winter”. Unlike the rest of the squad who are not up for playing anywhere at any time of year.
