Tangerine Dean?

Brentford boss Steve Coppell is keen to sign Ben Abbey, released by Southend at the end of last season, to add to his attacking options. Coppell, though, is unsure whether he has the funds available to secure Abbey's services. Abbey, who scored nine goals for the Shrimpers after netting just the once for United, scored two goals for the Bees in a friendly against Hampton & Richmond Borough, but missed their 3-0 win over India with a facial injury.

Former United striker Dean Saunders, who until recently was linked with a move back to the club, now looks likely to sign for Blackpool. Meanwhile Kyle Lightbourne, who played for United in the friendly at Woking, trained last week with Macclesfield and their chief executive, Colin Garlick said yesterday “Kyle Lightbourne is training with us and we are interested in him. We should know where we are going with that by the end of the week.”
