Sylla's a prize
United have, at long last, signed french triallist Norman Sylla on a contract until the end of the season, with an option to renew for a further year. The nineteen year old Parisien striker has impressed all who have seen him in his games for the reserves and the under-19s, scoring and creating goals at both levels and he has the potential to go on to be a fine player, hopefully for United. Mark Wright moved to sign Sylla once it became clear that a number of other clubs were interested in the youngster.
Darlo preview
United visit Feethams for a 1.00 kick off against Darlington on Saturday boosted by the news that Scott Guyett will be available for selection following his one game suspension. He will most likely replace Sam Ricketts, with Jon Richardson moving to the left centre-half role. United will probably revert to the 5-3-2 favoured for away games, and it remains to be seen who will fill the wing back berths with Sam Stockley having a torrid time recently and Paul Powell and Ricketts fighting over the left wing position. Up front it will probably be Jamie Brooks who lines up alongside Paul Moody, with Manny Omoyinmi and loanee Stuart Douglas warming the bench.
Thankfully Martin Gray retired earlier this season, ensuring that one definite Darlington goalscoring route has been closed, although if the Quakers had managed to sign Michael Reddy in time for the weekend it would have been United doing the quaking. Rage Online, flush from our successful prediction for the York game, regretfully announces that Darlington will win 2-0. Sorry.
