Swansea preview

United take on Swansea at the Kassam Stadium tomorrow in a game that will probably prove slightly harder than the Us' last home game, against Halifax. Swansea share the dubious distinction, with Northampton, of having the double done over them by Oxford in last season's disastrous relegation campaign.

United will be without midfielder Dave Savage, serving a one-match suspension, and his place will be filled by Robert Quinn. Wayne Hatswell is also suspended, but as he hasn't played for a couple of games Sam Ricketts will almost certainly continue at left back. Matthew Bound will also be missing from the line-up as the terms of his loan deal preclude him playing against the Swans. Dave Morley will probably be recalled. Up front Andy Scott looks to have recovered from the hamstring injury which saw him substituted at Shrewsbury in midweek, but Paul Moody is unwell. Martin Thomas is likely to be on the bench for the visit of his former club, whilst there is a possibility that Scott Guyett could replace Jon Richardson at right back.

Swansea are in financial trouble, like many others, but are currently riding on the crest of an away wave, having won five of their last six on the road. They include former United striker Nick Cusack, now plying his trade in midfield, and he will no doubt add his name to the list of former Us who have scored against us this season. Rage Online's prediction for this encounter is actually a 2-1 win for United, for no discernible logical reason.

Standing forth

On Radio Oxford today it was announced that Firoz Kassam states in his notes in tomorrow's programme his intention to complete the fourth side of the new stadium, as he is allegedly concerned about the lack of atmosphere in the ground. It is thought that he has clinched a franchise deal for the new hotel adjacent to the stadium with Holiday Inn Express and this new revenue stream will also be fed into the squad.

This announcement coincides with the appointment of two new associate directors. They are Richard (Lord) Faulkner who speaks to the House of Lords on football issues and is a member of Sport England's safer sports grounds panel, and Martin Matthews who sits on the FA Disciplinary Committee amongst other roles.
