Still up for grabs

Two potential play-off rivals remain in the hunt following victories tonight. Burton Albion stay sixth after beating Halifax 1-0, to leave the Shaymen in 18th place, just one point above Grays Athletic, who occupy the last relegation spot. Andy Campbell[@player]Campbell, Andy[/@player] was sent off for Halifax. Albion are now five points behind York, but have a game in hand on the Minstermen. Burton could still match United's points total should they win their remaining three games, but their goal difference of +2, compared to United's +32, means that they will be unable to overtake the Us, barring a series of results that would surely lead to an FA enquiry.

Stevenage Borough also kept their faint play-off hopes alive thanks to a 1-0 win over Rushden & Diamonds. Stevenage are a further four points adrift of Burton, in eighth place, but they still have four games to play, and so can overhaul York and Exeter, who are nine points above them. Aldershot, however, saw their play-off ambitions go up in smoke as they drew 0-0 at 11th-placed Kidderminster Harriers.

The one other game played in the Conference tonight had implications for the other end of the table, as Stafford Rangers, who visit Oxford on Saturday, beat 12th-placed Northwich Victoria 1-0 to move up to 20th place, one point above Grays and level with Cambridge United and Halifax. Stafford, like Grays, still have a game in hand on Cambridge, while Halifax have played two games fewer.
