Steady as she goes

Following tonight's schedule of Conference fixtures Oxford United remain in 18th place, despite the two teams immediately below them both picking up a point. A Joel Ledgister equaliser earned Woking a point in a 1-1 draw with 15th-placed Weymouth, to leave the Cards one place behind United on goal difference. Also behind the Us due to goal difference are Forest Green Rovers, who drew 2-2 at league leaders Crawley Town, for whom Jamie Cook scored to give them a 2-0 half-time lead. Eastbourne Borough could also have gone above United if they had won tonight, but they went down 2-1 at home to second-placed Kettering Town to remain fourth from bottom.

Northwich Victoria remain at the foot of the table despite picking up a point in a 1-1 draw with sixth-placed Kidderminster Harriers. Lewes remain second from bottom after a stoppage-time goal saw them lose 1-0 at fifth-placed Cambridge United. Grays Athletic are third-bottom following their 1-0 defeat at Rushden & Diamonds, who are seventh.

If Oxford win at 10th-placed Torquay United on Thursday they would climb two places, following York City's 3-1 defeat at eighth-placed Wrexham, and Barrow's goalless draw with fourth-placed Burton Albion. York are one place above Oxford, with Barrow in 16th position. Altrincham, where Oxford visit on Sunday, won 3-1 at 13th-placed Salisbury City, who had two men sent off, to climb to 15th place. In Monday night's game, Histon climbed briefly to second after winning 1-0 at Ebbsfleet United, but they dropped back to third following tonight's results. Ebbsfleet are now in 12th place.

Mansfield Town, who lost 3-2 at 11th-placed Stevenage Borough tonight, are currently ninth, but if their four-point deduction for fielding ineligible players is confirmed, they will fall to lower mid-table, just above where Oxford currently find themselves. The Stags may yet face further points deductions following an investigation into player registrations.
