A squad of 17 is travelling up to South Yorkshire for tomorrow's clash against Rotherham at Millmoor. It is the same sixteen that featured against Luton, less Paul Tait who broke his leg, but plus the Weatherstone brothers, Ross and Simon. Also called up is Matt Murphy, who scored twice for the reserves this week, who replaces Leon Mike in the squad.
Loanee Mike has now returned to Manchester City following a somewhat disappointing spell up the Manor, where he only started one game and came on in two others, but failed to make any real impact. Meanwhile United have failed in an attempt to bring in another loan player, but have put in a bid for a second player who, according to Denis Smith, the club has had its eye on for some time. This could possibly be an improved offer for Torquay's Tony Bedeau, or it could be a bid for someone else entirely.
As the reserves have no match this week United have arranged a friendly game against Reading this Wednesday, ostensibly to give run outs to both Paul Powell and Rob Folland, who have been injured for some time, both with ligament problems. The return of these two to the squad for the game at Reading, or the following week against Bristol Rovers, would give the whole place a big lift.
