So, farewell Eddie

From the Rage Online newsdesk Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Potential superstar and formerly Rage Online sponsored hero Fast Eddie Odhiambo-Anaclet has left the building. Eddie, who was out of contract at United, has turned down a new deal and opted to move to Stevenage Borough, the young naive fool. He becomes Graham Westley's fourth signing in the last few days as Borough continue in their bid to become a decidedly average Conference side.

On a good day, Eddie could be one of the more exciting and creative players in United's side. Unfortunately, his good days were not too frequent, and he was often frustrating in his decision making. Oxford's fans knew that Eddie had the ability to beat defenders and whip in decent crosses, but unfortunately Eddie didn't seem to share that belief, and he too often opted for a safer approach. He suffered from never being too sure which was his best position, and he featured initially as a right wingback, before being used as a right back and, eventually, a right winger, without really convincing anywhere. However, none of that stopped us from loving him, and his departure is a sad day for his former sponsees. We'll just have to find someone else for the mantle of Rage Online's Official Favourite Player.[@player]odhiambo-anaclet, eddie[/@player]

On a different note entirely, AFC Wimbledon, newly promoted to the Conference South, have released Robert Quinn, obviously realising that their improved level might require above minimum ability. Other news that we may have forgotten to report in our close-season apathy, and which you all probably know by now, is that Barrow beat Stalybridge Celtic to earn promotion to the Conference and cause chairmen of southern clubs to furrow their brows in anticipation of their forthcoming petrol bills. One petrol bill that United will not have to pay is for travel to Guinea, with the entirely unsurprising news that the alleged pre-season friendly will not now take place. Oxford aren't signing Ronaldinho either.
