Shrews turn the screws
United went down to their third consecutive home defeat today as Shrewsbury beat them 1-0, the goal scored, inevitably, by Nigel Jemson after 67 miutes. The only change that Mark Wright made from the team which lost to Gillingham was the introduction of Jamie Brooks for the injured Dave Savage. However Joey Beauchamp replaced Brooks at half-time. Dean Whitehead came on for Phil Gray and Rob Folland took over from Sam Ricketts. Referee
Michael Ryan booked both Ricketts and Hatswell whilst Paul Tait received a red card for a wild challenge on Greg Rioch in the 62nd minute.
The attendance was 5,667, the second highest in the division. The result leaves United with just one point from three games, in 21st position with just the three Devon teams below us. A match report can be found here.
In other games Lee Nogan scored York's first goal in their 2-1 win over Orient and Jamie Cook scored Boston's third goal as they won 3-0 at Forest Green
U's and Shrews share the spoils
In the morning a combined United fanzine team, Raging Fever, drew 3-3 with a bunch of Shrewsbury fans on the Jackdaw Lane astroturf pitch. Two goals from Gary Silver put the U's in the driving seat but Shrewsbury pulled a goal back just before half time. They went on to score twice more before Dr Dave equalised with just a few minutes remaining to save RF's blushes and secure a fair result. The attendance was about five and the referee was some fat bloke from Shrewsbury.
