Shrews news

From the Rage Online newsdesk Friday, August 27th, 2004

United welcome Shrewsbury Town to the KasStad tomorrow and will attempt to get back to winning ways after three games that have seen Oxford draw two and then lose to Reading. The good news is that there don’t appear to be any additions to the injury list following Wednesday’s League Cup game. The bad news is that it doesn’t seem likely that any of the current crop of injured players will be ready to play tomorrow.

One change to the line-up that faced Reading is almost certain, with Watford loanee Jamie Hand likely to come into the side in midfield. We suspect that it will be at the expense of Steve Basham, but it might instead see Danny Brown making way, with Rob Wolleaston moving over to the left side. There are unlikely to be any other changes, although Graham Rix may decide to alter the make-up of the bench, possibly. Who knows?

Shrewsbury, of course, feature Luke Rodgers, who scored his first goal of the season against Tranmere in the Cup this week. They also hope to have Trevor Challis and Kevin Street back from injury, and will be hoping to get a result following their poor start to the season. This will probably be a fairly tough game, but Rage Online anticipates United scraping a 1-0 win.

Tomorrow morning Raging Fever plays its first game of the season, against Shrewsbury supporters. The game kicks-off at 10.30 at Horspath Road, with several players coming in for their Fever debuts. Surprisingly, the game will probably not be featured on either Sky or Match of the Day, so check out Rage Online sometime over the weekend to find out how the boys in black and white stripes (that’s us, by the way) get on. Or alternatively, make your way down to Horspath Road to cheer us on.
