United’s next game is a trip to Gay Meadow to take on Shrewsbury, with Oxford having nothing left to play for but professional pride and, in some cases, new contracts. Horacio Rodriguez has apparently sorted out his work-permit problems and should be back today to take on first-team training and team selection duties. Ramon Diaz hasn’t been so fortunate, with a club official alleging that there has been a problem with the Home Office.

United are 13th in the table, 11 points below the play-offs with just seven games to play. Dave Mackay, Mateo Corbo and Craig Davies could all be available for this game. Davies missed both Easter fixtures due to his international call-up with Wales Under-21s, while Corbo was suffering from an injury. Mackay was ill last Monday and missed the Orient fixture. Rodriguez might take the opportunity to take a look at some of the fringe players in the squad, such as Amine Karam and Billy Beechers, although Tom Winters unfortunately has a dose of mumps and will miss out. Meanwhile United’s Communications Officer, Chris Williams, also forgot to have his jabs and has come down with both measles and rubella, although it’s not expected to make any difference to his output.

Shrewsbury are not yet out of relegation danger, lying fourth from bottom and just six points ahead of second-bottom Kidderminster. They will be without defender Stuart Whitehead, who will be suspended after being sent off against Northampton over the weekend, and Martin O’Connor is also injured. Duane Darby could also miss out if he doesn’t recover from injury in time. We normally offer a score prediction at this point, but to be honest we just can’t be arsed.

Before the game Raging Fever meet Shrewsbury fans. The game takes place at the Shrewsbury College of Art and Technology, with a 10.30 (ish) kick-off.
