Oxford United have secured their second summer signing in as many days after confirming the capture of Liam Sercombe.
The 25-year-old midfielder joins the Us from fellow Division Four side Exeter City on a two-year-deal, with the option of an additional year, a day after the club announced the permanent signing of Kemar Roofe.
He has made over 250 appearances for the Grecians since joining the Devon outfit back in 2007, scoring four goals in 41 appearances for Paul Tisdale’s side last season.
Sercombe, who won promotion with Exeter from the bottom tier back in 2009, said: “It’s exciting to be joining Oxford.
“I have been with Exeter since I was a kid so it was hard to leave but I know I have made the right decision.
“I wanted a new challenge and am really looking forward to being part of what Oxford are trying to build here.”
United head coach Michael Appleton added: “First and foremost he is a very good player.
“He is a terrific competitor, he links things together well and every time we’ve watched him he has caught the eye.
“He has a lot of experience for someone who is still only 25 and we think he will be a major asset to this football club.”
Sercombe’s switch to the Kassam Stadium ceases Oxford’s pursuit of the box-to-box midfielder after having a bid turned down for the player back in January.
