Second helpings

From the Rage Online newsdesk Friday, January 1st, 2010

With frozen pitches accounting for five games, and FA Cup involvement culling a further three matches, there were only four Conference games played this afternoon. Stevenage Borough took full advantage of Oxford's game at Rushden & Diamonds getting called off to overtake the Yellows at the top of the league. They beat 12th-placed Cambridge United 4-1 to go one point clear of United, having played three games more, and to level up the goal difference. Yemi Odubade scored the opening goal for Borough and was also involved in two of the others.

AFC Wimbledon remain in fifth place after they were surprisingly beaten 1-0 at Hayes & Yeading, who climbed to 14th. Crawley Town went up to 10th place, five points adrift of Wimbledon, after winning 2-0 at fifth-bottom Eastbourne Borough.

Ebbsfleet United moved to just one point behind Eastbourne, climbing over Forest Green Rovers to fourth bottom, with a 3-0 win at second-bottom Grays Athletic, who remain five points from safety. Woking, who are United's next opponents when they meet in the FA Trophy second round a week tomorrow, moved up to second in the Conference South with a 2-0 win over Havant & Waterlooville.
