Scott signs on

Midfielder Scott Davies has put pen to paper on a new one-year contract at Oxford United. The 25 year-old joined the Us on a free transfer from Crawley Town in March, having made only one appearance for the Red Devils all season.

Davies has made 13 appearances during his short stint at the Kassam Stadium, scoring one goal in the 3-2 defeat at relegated Aldershot Town back in April. Both the ex-Crawley midfielder and forward Deane Smalley were offered new deals earlier this month when the club released 12 players, with the former Chesterfield striker still undecided on his future.

He began his career working through the youth ranks at Reading before enjoying loan spells at the likes of Aldershot, Wycombe Wanderers and Bristol Rovers. Davies eventually left the Madejski Stadium to sign for Steve Evans’ Crawley in July 2011.

Despite Oxford United not officially confirming the combative midfielder has signed a new deal, Davies took to social networking site Twitter to break the news:

“Delighted to have signed a one year contract, hoping for a successful season!”
