Scott free?

Scott free?

The latest rumours to hit cyberspace concern Andy Scott. Apparently United's front man has requested a transfer and our friends from Luton have offered £250,000 for his services. The truth of this may well be ascertained tomorrow if Scott is “rested” and Manny Omoyinmi, who is in United's squad, starts in his place. Of course whether United should have any dealings with Luton, whose boss Joe Kinnear accused Oxford's chairman Firoz Kassam of “prattish behaviour”, is another matter.

The latest story concerning our friend Paul Moody is that Millwall are going to offer him to United on a two-month loan deal. This may be a more viable option for Oxford than a permanent move for the aging striker, especially if the Scott story is true as Moody could provide cover until someone more suitable is brought in.

Meanwhile Simon Weatherstone was apparently subject to a £75,000 bid from Reading. Walsall have also expressed interest in the Boston striker who failed to impress at the Manor.
