Oxford have agreed a fee of £150,000 for Barnet's Sam Stockley, a 23 year old right-sided defender who, despite the Bees' relegation to the Conference last season, was widely reported to be the Third Division's best defender. Originally United offered £75,000 for Stockley, but went back with a better offer after this was turned down.
Stockley is currently in a wage dispute with Barnet but that shouldn't prevent him coming to United, provided he passes his medical and agrees personal terms. Barnet fans are definitely upset at the departure of Stockley, especially coming so soon after the sale of their other right-sided favourite Darren Currie to Wycombe for £200,000.
Meanwhile former United loan goalkeeper Neil Cutler is on trial at QPR; Matty Elliott is rumoured to be interesting Celtic for £2 million; Guy Whittingham is to have talks with Exeter manager Noel Blake to see if he wants to join the Grecians.
