Rage Online has heard distressing reports that Southampton could be poised to swoop for talented youngster Jamie Brooks, whose form has been one of the pluses for United this pre-season. United's former Youth Development Officer Malcolm Elias, now at the Saints, was at Court Place Farm on Saturday and it is thought that Brookes was the subject of his attentions. Elias has already been responsible for the promising Jonathon Mills moving south although most United supporters will be hoping that Brookes doesn't follow in those footsteps.
Former U's striker John Durnin, currently out of contract, is being linked with a move to Welsh League side Rhyl. It remains to be seen how Mr Lager will cope with the Welsh Sunday drinking laws.
Simon Betts, the former Scarborough left back who played for United on trial at Didcot last Thursday, is currently on trial at Darlington and is hopeful that the Shakers will offer him a contract.
