Safety first (not second, upper)

Safety certificate refused
Safety officers today turned down United's application for a safety certificate at Minchery Farm because there was still too much work outstanding. They will revisit the ground on Friday to issue an interim certificate for areas of the stadium excluding the upper tier of the South Stand.

The Crystal Palace match will still go ahead, but the South Stand upper tier, including the Directors Box, will be unusable. Instead the stadium will operate with a reduced capacity of 10,000 and those already with tickets for the upper tier will be able to transfer them to either the South Stand lower tier, the East Stand, or the North Stand. It is thought that the full safety certificate will be issued in time for the Rochdale match.

Stein's a Dag
Mark Stein has signed for Dagenham & Redbridge and not, as reported on Rage Online previously, for Ajax Cape Town.
Leicester are to offer Matt Elliott an improved long-term contract in an attempt to keep Martin O'Neill's Celtic at bay.
swindon have sacked manager Andy King and former U's coach Malcolm Crosby, which is a shame.
