Rovers preview

The Gas are in town tomorrow for a mid-table clash. Bristol Rovers have had a resurgence in form recently, whilst United haven't. It would appear that Lee Maddison has not yet signed for Oxford which means that United could turn out with a 5-3-2 formation which means that the Us will lose, or at least go a goal down before Ian Atkins reverts to 4-4-2.

A lot depends on whether or not Jon Richardson is fit to play at right back. Paul Powell and Andy Scott have had a touch of gastro-enteritis (indigestion) but should both be fit to play, as should Manny Omoyinmi who received a knock in training. Andy Woodman will probably continue in goal despite Richard Knight coming through Wednesday's reserve game with no problems.

Nathan Ellington is Rovers' danger-man but, thankfully, he has never played for United and so that lessens the odds on him scoring (although not by much). Tomorrow's date being 02/02/02 it is quite possible that the scoreline will also be 0.2, but we remain unrealistically optimistic and actually believe that it is not beyond United to win this game 3-2. We are drinking very strong whisky as we write this…
