Robbo’s stag night

Les Robinson is to sign up for Mansfield Town in a player/coach role. This has been on the cards for some time as Robbo bought a house in his home town last Summer. It is also almost certain that Joey Beauchamp will be staying at the Manor, although he will announce his decision tomorrow. Both pieces of news that are likely to please the majority of United fans, although it means that Denis Smith is going to have to act to bring in defensive cover for the right back position, as only Rob Folland plays regularly in that role and he is out of contract and has yet to decide his future. However Smith has given all the out-of-contract players until the end of this week to make up their minds so he should know soon enough what action he needs to take in the transfer market.

Valiant Powell?

A third Premiership club, Charlton Athletic, has apparently expressed an interest in Paul Powell, following Newcastle and Bradford City. Smith remains adamant that no club has come in to make enquiries or put in an offer, and it is more than likely that this story is the result of an agent pulling strings in the media to try and rekindle interest in the player. Hopefully there is nothing more to it than that.
