Rix and stones

From the Rage Online newsdesk Tuesday, March 29th, 2005

Oxford United’s have announced, at last, that they’ve reached a settlement with former manager Graham Rix, who has now left the club. Rix, who has been hanging around the KasStad like something that wafted over from the nearby sewage treatment plant, was one of the least successful managers in United’s history, achieving just six wins and eight draws in his 29 games in charge.

It all started so promisingly too, as United drew 0-0 with top of the division Doncaster in Rix’s first game, in which he gave a debut to man-of-the-match goalie Simon Cox. Rix’s last game was a 2-1 defeat at Rochdale in the first round of the FA Cup, back in November.

Meanwhile, Ramon Diaz’s and Horacio Rodriguez’s mysterious absence from the Easter games has been explained by Firoz Kassam as being due to them having work permit problems. Kassam has promised that they will be back at the club soon, although the proof of that particular pudding will be in the eating, so to speak. The majority of United fans would like the new management team to remain in place for next season, and with the Argentines actually wanting to stay, for some reason, then Kassam could find himself swiftly becoming even more unpopular should he fail to retain their services. Let’s hope that this work permit issue isn’t used as a peg on which to hang this particular failure.
