Right on, it’s Creighton

From the Rage Online newsdesk Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Oxford United today made their second (third if you include Kevin Sandwith) signing since the season ended, with the news that giant centre-back Mark Creighton has joined from Kidderminster Harriers. Creighton was still under contract to the Harriers, who yesterday released eight out-of-contract players, including former United loanee Justin Richards.

Creighton has been at Kidderminster for the last three seasons, having joined from Redditch United. He had previously been in the Kiddy youth team. He will possibly be remembered by United supporters as the defender who fouled James Constable to concede the penalty from which Beano scored when Kidderminster visited Oxford in November.

Creighton joined Oxford on a three-year contract, and United paid an undisclosed “nominal” fee for him. He has been Kidderminster's captain for the past two seasons, and also their Player of the Season. He will almost certainly be a direct replacement for Chris Willmott, and therefore play alongside Luke Foster.
