Return of the Mac

Neil McGowan has returned to Oxford in an attempt to boost his playing career again. He joined the rest of the United squad for their training yesterday following his end-of-season stint at Stranraer, where he scored a goal during his seven games as a midfielder.

Also on trial with United was Tony Pennock, the 30 year old Yeovil goalie. Oxford is just one of a few Third Division clubs interested in Pennock, who didn't sign a new contract with the Conference runners-up and so would be available on a free transfer.
