Reserves win away shock

Norwich City Res 0, Oxford Utd Res 1
Oxford United won this evening's Avon Insurance reserves team fixture at Carrow Road with a goal 15 minutes from time.

Richard Knight was untroubled for the entire game as United's defence kept the toothless Norwich attack at bay, although early on the game Alex Notman attempted to chip Knight who easily gathered the ball. Paul Crichton in the Norwich goal then had to be alert to turn a shot from Simon King round for a corner, while Norman Sylla should have put the Us a goal up just before the break but his free header was directed way over the crossbar.

After the break King again brought a good save from Crichton but with 15 minutes remaining Jorden Holder steered the ball into the net when he got the slightest of touches on a shot from Josias Carbon. Oxford almost added to their score when Crichton saved at point blank range from substitute Michael Alexis.

Oxford Utd: Knight, Hackett, Powell, Lovegrove, Garner, King, McIntosh, Brandish, Sylla (Carbon 63), Holder, Quinn (Alexis 67). Sub (not used): Ford.
Attendance: 599

Phil Gray's debut for Boston United didn't go quite as well as he might have hoped. Gray did his chances of winning a permanent contract at the Conference club no good at all when he was dismissed in the 50th minute for a second yellow card. Boston held on to beat Morecambe 2-1, with no former United players getting on the scoresheet.
