Posh boys beat posh boys

From the Rage Online newsdesk Tuesday, February 1st, 2005

Oxford’s reserves side travelled to London Road and were soundly beaten by Peterborough’s reserves this afternoon. Posh won 3-0, although the last two goals came in the final five minutes, but this was a strong United side and, on paper at least, they should have done better.

Oxford started well, but were eventually thankful for Simon Cox in goal to keep the game goalless as half-time approached. However the home side took the lead just before the break, as Andy Clarke beat Terry Parker to convert from close-range. Peterborough continued to look the stronger side in the second period, and three minutes from time Jamie Day doubled their advantage. Within a minute Ryan Semple had made it three to complete the scoring.

Michael Diaz Paul Wanless played the full game for the Us, his first match since suffering a thigh strain against Yeovil, while David Woozley, Steve Basham, Lee Molyneaux, Mark E’Beyer, and Lucas Cominelli all got a full match, as did Parker. Playing his first game for United was Michael Diaz (left), Ramon’s youngest son, in defence, who is possibly one of the various players for whom Oxford sought international clearance on the closure of the transfer window yesterday.
