Plymouth preview
United visit the division three leaders tomorrow hoping against hope to avoid humiliation. Following Tuesday's inability to beat a dire Torquay side it is likely that the Us will adopt an even more defensive formation for their visit to Torquay's Devon neighbours. Richard Knight came through Wednesday's 4-1 reserves victory at Rushden & Diamonds with no problems and could take over from Andy Woodman between the sticks. Also playing the full 90 minutes was Martin Thomas, whose alleged tenacious tackling might be preferred to the anonymity of Robert Quinn in midfield, as Paul Tait is still out injured. Chris Hackett impressed up front for the second string but is unlikely to displace Paul Moody or Andy Scott in the first team. A question mark continues to hang over Sam Stockley after his half-time substitution on Tuesday, so perhaps a right wingback berth might be available.
Plymouth are hampered in their quest for victory only by the lack of former United players in their ranks, now that Nicky Banger has left for Torquay. Plymouth have hit a bit of a poor run recently, but will doubtless put that to rights tomorrow. Rage Online considers ourselves to be cautiously optimistic by predicting a 2-0 reverse for United.
Bound around?
Ian Atkins is hoping to complete the signing of centre back Matthew Bound on Monday, following the agreement of personal terms between the player and the club. Bound, currently in the second month of his loan spell at the club, has impressed Atkins with his experience and will become the manager's third permanent signing, joining fellow centre backs Andy Crosby and Dave Morley.
Muppetless
Rage On e-mailed Nigel Jemson the day after the game at Shrewsbury and asked for his Muppets t-shirt for a prize for a Rage On competition. Unfortunately it seems that he disposed of it at half-time so there wouldn't be any evidence! Bugger! We're now going to try and get one of Joe Ross's red cards instead…
