Piper and his mates forlorn

Farnborough 1 Oxford United 2

For the second successive game a player by the name of Piper breached United's defence, this time Lenny Piper of Farnborough scored a second half equaliser after Dean Whitehead had put the U's ahead in the 36th minute. Whitehead initially scuffed his shot but an error from the home team's goalkeeper allowed the ball to cross the line.

Good work from Manny Omoyinmi, who calmly shot home with just the 'keeper to beat, gave United victory. Richard Knight played the full game, although Dave Beasant was apparently watching the match from the stand. The only non-United player who had a game was Gareth Hall, who came on as a substitute for Robert Quinn. Phil Gray and Andy Scott started up front but the game finished with Manny and Jamie Brookes in the forward positions. Martin Thomas and Scott Guyett missed the game through injury whilst ROS Rob Folland and Simon King played for the under-19s in the Thame tournament.

In Thame, United's youth team went down 1-0 to Banbury United. Folland missed a penalty in the match.
