Oxford United: On This Day

A new entry into the canon of Oxford United literature is now available. Entitled On This Day it chronicles the United's story from the beginning to the present with facts from every day of the year (including Leap Day and Christmas Day).

Interestingly, this is the entry for today's date, 27 October 1893:

This date marks the founding of Headington AFC, which later became Headington United and then Oxford United. The prime mover behind it was Dr Robert Hitchings, who lived in Windmill Road, and who called the meeting at the Britannia Inn on London Road. The meeting was reported in the St Andrew
