One forum, um, for all

The first fans forum under United's current owners was held this evening at the Kassam Stadium. Unfortunately, your intrepid Rage Online reporter neglected to take along his new pad and pens, and so was unable to take notes. We would sack him, but then we'd have no website, so we probably won't. Therefore, what follows is pieced together from his crap memory retention, and we apologise unreservedly for any errors, misunderstandings, and gaps.

The evening started (late, of course) with Nick Merry introducing his partner in Woodstock Partners Ltd, Ian Lenagan, who proceeded to deliver a thoroughly detailed and lengthy presentation, answering almost all the questions that have been raised about the club recently, including the current structure, the short-term and medium-term plans, stadium acquisition, and many other issues, going into the financial minutiae of all manner of things, from youth development, football in the community, stadium purchase, and general balance-sheet information relating to the last three or four seasons.

Lenagan's first piece of real news was something of a bombshell, informing the 300 or so attendees that United director Kelvin Thomas was returning to Florida in June, after just over a year of being the business brains behind the operation. The one positive from Thomas's departure is the large sum that would be saved, as Lenagan and Merry, along with Lenagan's sons Simon and Adrian, would carry out the majority of Thomas's duties at no cost. Indeed, it was revealed that Simon Lenagan would become the Youth and Community General Manager (both Lenagan boys are Oxford supporters, and Simon has been heavily involved with Old Woodstock Town FC).
