As the second-half kicked-off, Fever became aware of the wind that Preston had been so keen to mention in the first half and struggled to clear their lines on several occasions. With the ball holding up in the wind, Paul Soper did well to deal with through-balls that could have caused all sorts of problems without such swift action. Despite free-kicks in dangerous positions at either end, the game looked destined to be heading for extra-time until the ball bounced across the six-yard box to Longshaw, following good work from Dominion and Hickman. As the expectant crowd drew breath, expecting another trademark scuffed volley into the corner, Longshaw miraculously caught the ball sweetly and sent it rocketing over the bar.
