Following last night’s play-off semi-final second leg, we can add Morecambe to the list of nice seaside resorts we can look forward to visiting next season, alongside Weymouth, Southport, and possibly Scarborough. The cockle-pickers were beaten 3-2 after extra time by Hereford United at Edgar Street, to set up a final against Halifax. This will take place at Leicester City’s Walker Stadium on Saturday 20 May, with a 5.30 kick-off time.

Other former United players who have been cast into the cold, and who we forgot to mention yesterday, include Rotherham United’s Phil Gilchrist. Gilly has been rumoured to be returning to United, although this has not been officially confirmed.
