No more bad Manor puns – thanks for the Manories

In the excitement of yesterday's footy Rage Online forgot to report that the appeal against the decision not to allow the Acland Hospital to redevelop the site of the Manor was upheld, meaning that our former home will soon become a private hospital and nurses' flats. The good news, for Firoz Kassam if not the nearby residents, is that this will be a lucrative scheme for him and he should considerably more than recoup the £6 million he paid to buy the site from OUFC. Whether any of this money is invested into the football club remains, at best, unlikely as Kassam is presumably still looking to recover some of the £15 million he spent on the stadium.

United fans will be heartened by the fact that there exists a section 106 planning agreement which states that some sort of memorial has to be installed to commemorate the site as the club's former stadium. Mind you, there is also a section 106 that states that a football related work of art should be erected outside the Kassam Stadium, and we haven't seen that yet…
