No Kassam charity

The proposed match in aid of Comic Relief between an Eastenders XI and a BBC Celebrity XI, due to be played on Sunday August 5th, has been postponed for “unforeseen circumstances”. This might mean that they are concerned with how the new pitch would take a second match the day after the Crystal Palace friendly, or it could be that Billy Mitchell is finally going to get banged up, orlright guv?

A Dreyer player

Team Talk would astonishingly appear to have been proven correct in its earlier assertion that United were about to sign John Dreyer. The 38 year old defender has indeed signed for Oxford today on a one year playing contract, presumably with a view to eventually moving into a coaching career, or maybe even as a player-coach.

Dreyer was transfer-listed by Cambridge United at the end of last season and his last game for them was against Oxford at the Abbey Stadium. Presumably Dreyer's signing signals an end to the interest in Neil Ruddock.

Meanwhile it is alleged that crowd favourite Matt Murphy is in talks with Bury, who are presumably giving up any ambition of returning to the First Division. Former United loanee 'keeper Ian Walker has moved from Spurs to Leicester for £2.5 million.

Doctor who?

United's new phyiotherapist is apparently Bicester-based Neil Sullivan. Sullivan has no real pedigree in football but has allegedly worked with Chelsea's youth set up.
