In tonight’s games in Division Three Lincoln City were held to a goalless draw by fourth-bottom Cheltenham at Sincil Bank, and Macclesfield beat Bristol Rovers 2-1 at Moss Rose. These results mean that Lincoln move into sixth place, above Huddersfield on goal difference and Rovers stay 11th, eleven points below the play-off zone.
Third Division clubs in the FA Cup had mixed fortunes: Northampton won 2-1 at Rotherham to set themselves up with a lucrative home tie against Manchester United, while Kidderminster were beaten 2-0 by Wolves. The big news from tonight’s third round replays though was Scunthorpe’s 2-0 win over Barnsley. This means that the next Rage On, scheduled to be published to coincide with the Iron’s visit to the KasStad, has had to be postponed a week until Saturday 31st January, when Kidderminster come to town. It also means United will have another blank Saturday.
In the French cup Nancy beat Lille on penalties after the match ended goalless after extra time. This is probably of no interest to anyone. At all.
